About The Program
The Information Communications Technology (ICT) programme was created with the vision of building a community of skilled Information Technology professionals to bridge the gap of trained and certified IT workforce in the country. This partnership between the Office of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Grand Bahama, and the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute began in 2018 with a cohort of 150 students (100 in Nassau, 50 in Freeport) leaving the 9th grade in the pilot summer programme. Through its succession, the cohort would enroll in the program over the course of three summer semesters, advancing from foundational to advanced-level courses and building their skills and training in Information Technology.
As the nation gears more and more towards information technology and seeks to make information technology its third pillar of the economy, the need for more persons trained in this field is great. The ICT programme provides an opportunity to engage more youth who are interested in becoming information technology professionals to harness and enhance their skills needed during their high school years. They are also able to sit internationally recognized certifications from our partners at CompTIA, Cisco, and Microsoft throughout every level of the program.
